The outer sand track saw some of the most fluid movements of the morning. Gachchhatu, partnered with Shreyas, delivered a solid display over 1200m, clocking 1:23 and covering the final 1000m in 1:8.5. Meanwhile, The Archer, ridden by Saqlian, moved fluently over 1000m in 1:12, with a final 600m split of 41 seconds. Power Of Beauty also impressed during a 600m sprint, finishing in 41.5 seconds.
Gate practice and track highlights
The morning session also featured extensive gate practice on the inner sand track, providing a vital test for several runners. In a 1200m exercise, El Rey and Teak showed good speed, with El Rey finishing three lengths ahead after clocking 1:22.5. Desert Shield also caught the eye with a smart jump, completing the distance in 1:22. Additionally, Rojo jumped out smartly to record a time of 1:23.5, while Qualify and Xanthos finished level in their 1200m gate test, stopping the clock at 1:24.
On the inner sand, Lux Aeterna produced an impressive 1400m gallop, timed at 1:37, while Galahad showed promise over 1200m with a time of 1:22. Other notable efforts included Storm Majesty, who appeared in fine trim during a 1000m gallop, and the pair of Whistling Glory and Mandalay, with the former finishing two lengths clear after their 1200m workout in 1:27. The session concluded with various horses completing their final preparations, including Magnus, who left a positive impression during a 1400m gate practice alongside Don Carlos.
