The Pune racecourse saw a flurry of activity on Saturday morning (Sept. 5) as trainers put their contenders through their paces. Among the various horses undergoing routine exercise, Dedication, Kavya, and Beast Mode emerged as the standout performers, catching the eye with their fluid movements and controlled efforts during their respective gallops.
The session, conducted on the inner sand track, provided a vital opportunity for connections to assess the fitness and readiness of their charges. While many horses displayed steady progress, the trio of Dedication, Kavya, and Beast Mode stood out for their professionalism and physical condition, signaling they are in good shape for their upcoming engagements.
Strong gallops across the distances
In the 1400m work, Kavya, ridden by Parmar, clocked 1:36, covering the final 1200m in 1:21 and the 1000m in 1:07. The horse appeared in excellent condition throughout the exercise. Meanwhile, Beast Mode, also under Parmar, produced an impressive 1200m gallop, finishing in 1:20, with a 1000m split of 1:06, demonstrating significant power and readiness.
The 1000m gallops featured several notable efforts. Dedication, partnered with Aditya, worked alongside Emperor Roderic (Mosin) to clock 1:03, with an 800m split of 49 seconds and a 600m finish of 38 seconds. The pair finished level, with Dedication showing particularly good movement. Other notable 1000m efforts included Magical Moments (1:06), Golden Axl (1:07), and Pure Soul (1:07), all of whom moved with ease.
Short-distance movements and pairings
The 800m sprints saw a variety of performances, with Saint Sizzle catching the eye by clocking 50 seconds, including a 600m split of 37 seconds. Skandha and Yinsiruk also impressed, both recording 51 seconds for the 800m distance. In the pairing sessions, Starseed finished four lengths clear of Liam, while Café Noire held a five-length advantage over Deavline. Giacomo and It’s My Time maintained a steady pace to finish level, mirroring the effort of Rampage and Remy Red, who moved neck and neck throughout their 1000m exercise.
The morning session concluded with Key West covering 1200m in 1:23 and Elysium completing 1400m in 1:38. These exercises provide a clear indication of the current form of the Pune-based string as they continue their preparations for the racing season.
