Tanvi, Ashmita, and Rakshitha advance to the quarterfinals at the Korea Masters.

India's badminton sensation, Tanvi Sharma, showcased her remarkable talent by advancing to the quarterfinals of the Korea Masters Super 300 tournament on August 6, 2026. The 17-year-old, who recently celebrated her first BWF World Tour title at the Taipei Open, triumphed over fellow Indian Shriyanshi Valishetty in a thrilling pre-quarterfinal match that lasted 57 minutes. The match concluded with scores of 21-16, 17-21, and 21-13, solidifying Tanvi's position as the third seed in the tournament.

Following her victory, Tanvi, who has recently ascended to a career-high world ranking of No. 30, is set to face Rakshitha Sree Santhosh Ramraj in the next round. Rakshitha secured her quarterfinal berth with a decisive 22-20, 21-10 win against Japan's Manami Suizu, completing her match in 45 minutes. The upcoming clash between Tanvi and Rakshitha promises to be an exciting encounter as both players aim for a spot in the semifinals.

Other Indian Players' Performances

In addition to Tanvi's success, Ashmita Chaliha also advanced in the women's singles category, delivering a commanding performance against South Korea's Kim Min Ji. Ashmita won her match with scores of 21-17, 21-6 in just 31 minutes. She now faces a significant challenge against top-seed Hina Akechi of Japan in the quarterfinals. However, not all Indian players fared as well; Anmol Kharb was eliminated after a closely contested match against Vietnam's Vu Thi Trang, losing 21-23, 21-15, 18-21 in a grueling one hour and eight minutes. Mansi Singh and fifth seed Isharani Baruah also exited the tournament after their respective defeats.

Men's Doubles and Mixed Doubles Results

In the men's doubles, the duo of Krishna Prasad Garaga and Pruthvi Krishnamurthy Roy kept India's hopes alive with a narrow victory over South Korea's Kim Young Hyuk and Shin Tae Yang, winning 21-18, 21-19 in 39 minutes. They will face Malaysia's Man Wei Chong and Soh Wooi Yik in the quarterfinals. Unfortunately, the mixed doubles team of Ishaan Bhatnagar and Shruti Mishra could not progress, losing to South Korea's Shin Tae Yang and Kim Yu Jung in a match that ended 16-21, 21-16, 13-21. Additionally, India's women's doubles campaign concluded early, with Sonali Singh and Ritika Thaker falling to Japan's seventh-seeded pair in a swift match that ended 15-21, 9-21.

India's men's singles competitors had already faced elimination on the opening day, with notable players including Kidambi Srikanth and Mithun Manjunath exiting in their first-round matches.
