The morning session featured a mix of activity across both the inner and outer sand tracks. While many horses were put through their paces with steady work, a select few demonstrated superior form, suggesting they are hitting their stride as they approach upcoming racing engagements.
Standout performances on the outer sand
On the outer sand track, Shutterfly produced one of the most notable displays of the morning. Clocking 1:22.5 for the 1200m distance, the horse covered the final 1000m in 1:09 and the last 600m in 41.5 seconds, delivering a pleasing performance. Similarly, Doncaster Belle impressed over 1000m, finishing in 1:14 with a final 600m split of 41 seconds.
Other horses that caught the eye during the shorter 600m sprints on the outer sand included Flavianus, Power Of Beauty, and Tricon Falcon, all of whom clocked 41 seconds. In the 1000m gallops, Mericle Beauty shaped well with a time of 1:13, while the pairing of Chisox and Solo Prince also clocked 1:13, with the former finishing four lengths clear of its companion. Efficacy also looked fluent over 1200m, stopping the clock at 1:23.5.
Extended gallops and inner sand activity
The 1400m gallops provided a test of stamina for several runners. Aquastic impressed with a time of 1:42, covering the final 1200m in 1:26 and the last 600m in 42.5 seconds. Yarra Yarra also put in a fine display, finishing in 1:43.5, while Lasya completed the distance in 1:41.5. Excellent Lass showed impressive form over 1200m, clocking 1:30.5 and finishing the final 600m in 42 seconds.
On the inner sand track, Xaily and Supernal worked over 600m, with Xaily finishing five lengths ahead in a time of 38.5 seconds. Sassy also showed good form, clocking 39.5 seconds over the same distance. These sessions provide a crucial indicator of current fitness levels for the horses involved as they continue their training regimes.
