Red Lightning and Pure Soul produced eye-catching performances during Wednesday's morning training session, as horses were put through their paces on the inner sand track ahead of upcoming racing fixtures.

Red Lightning and Pure Soul delivered standout performances during Wednesday morning's training session, drawing praise for their movement on the inner sand track. As preparations continue for upcoming race days, the duo showcased their readiness with sharp displays of speed and agility.

The morning exercise saw a variety of horses testing their form, with several runners clocking notable times over different distances. Among the highlights, Pure Soul impressed with a swift 800m gallop, covering the distance in 51 seconds and finishing the final 600m in 37 seconds. Similarly, Red Lightning caught the eye over 1000m, completing the distance in 1:06, with an 800m split of 52 seconds and a final 600m in 39 seconds.

Strong gallops highlight Wednesday training

Several other horses also demonstrated positive form during the session. Misty Night clocked 51 seconds for 800m, showing good intensity in the final stages of the work. In the 1000m gallops, Ashwa Ankara moved well, stopping the clock at 1:06, while Bravion recorded a time of 1:08. Merchant Of Venice also put in a solid effort, finishing the 1000m distance in 1:10.

The session included a range of shorter sprints, with Café Noire and Commanchero working together over 800m. Café Noire finished the move well clear, clocking 52 seconds for the distance. Other notable 800m efforts included Dreamer, who moved fluently in 53 seconds, and True Promise, who also clocked 53 seconds while working well. Sandokan and Marcus both moved freely, recording times of 54 and 53 seconds respectively.

Extended work and gate practice

For those looking for more stamina-based preparation, Fynbos completed an 1800m gallop in 2:10, maintaining a fluent pace throughout the long-distance effort. In the 1200m category, Remarkable and Mai Tai worked in tandem, with Remarkable appearing superior as they finished in 1:26.

The morning concluded with gate practice on the inner sand track. Ma Cherie and Talking Point were put through their paces over 1000m, with Ma Cherie showing a slight edge by finishing two lengths in front of her companion in a time of 1:11. Other runners, including Ashwa Tazbeez, Absolute Serenity, Bishop, and Lord Rishon, completed their work with easy, steady gallops as they continue their conditioning programs.
