Mandalay, Haniel and Sigrid were the standout performers during Saturday morning's track work at the Bengaluru racecourse. The trio displayed significant progress during their respective exercises on August 29, drawing attention for their fluent movement and conditioning as they prepare for future engagements.
The training session, which covered both the inner and outer sand tracks, saw a variety of horses put through their paces. While many runners focused on steady work, the performances of Mandalay, Haniel and Sigrid stood out for their efficiency and rhythm, indicating they are in fine fettle.
Outer sand track highlights
On the outer sand track, Mandalay, ridden by Aleemuddin, clocked 1-10.5 for the 1000m distance, covering the final 600m in 42.5 seconds to leave a positive impression. Sigrid, also under Aleemuddin, produced a similarly impressive display over the same distance, finishing in 1-12 with a final 600m split of 42 seconds. In the 1200m gallops, Arul guided Haniel to a pleasing effort, recording 1-28 with a final 600m segment of 42 seconds.
Other notable work on the outer sand included Brave Heart, who strode out well to clock 1-11.5 for 1000m. Double Vision finished five lengths clear of Ancient History in their 1000m spin, while N R I Ace showed promise by easing up after a sharp 39.5-second effort between the 1200m and 600m markers. Acantha also moved with fluency over 1400m, stopping the clock at 1-42.5.
Inner sand track activity
The inner sand track saw several horses complete shorter, sharp bursts of exercise. Iron Mirage looked to be in fine trim, completing 1200m in 1-20.5, while Edison also moved well over the same distance, finishing in 1-24. Among the 600m sprints, Quantum caught the eye with a 39-second effort, while Manterio strode out well to record 39.5 seconds. Rocking Star also completed a steady 600m stretch in 40 seconds, rounding out a productive morning of training for the local stables.
