Kavya and Beast Mode were the headline performers during Friday morning’s training session at the Pune racecourse. Both horses displayed significant promise during their respective gallops, drawing attention with sharp, controlled movements across the inner sand track as they continued their preparations.
The morning session featured a variety of distance sets, with trainers and connections monitoring the progress of their charges. While many runners opted for steady, easy work, the efforts of Kavya and Beast Mode stood out for their fluidity and pace, marking them as horses to watch in upcoming engagements.
Strong gallops highlight morning training
The most notable performance of the day came from Kavya, ridden by D.A. Naik. Covering 1400m, the horse clocked 1:34, with the final 1200m in 1:18 and the 1000m in 1:03. The gallop was capped off with a sharp 800m split of 50 seconds and a final 600m in 37 seconds, demonstrating an impressive turn of foot that caught the eye of observers.
In the 1000m gallops, Beast Mode, partnered by Parmar, also delivered a commanding display. Working alongside Fortunate Son, Beast Mode clocked 1:05 for the full distance, hitting the 800m mark in 50 seconds and the 600m in 38 seconds. Beast Mode moved with purpose throughout the exercise and finished well clear of its stablemate, suggesting the horse is in fine condition.
Steady work across the inner sand
Elsewhere on the inner sand, several other horses completed their scheduled work with varying degrees of intensity. Giacomo and It’s My Time produced a synchronized effort over 1000m, finishing in 1:05 with identical splits of 50 seconds for the 800m and 38 seconds for the 600m, moving freely in tandem throughout the gallop.
The 800m sprints saw a flurry of activity, with Queen Of Beauties catching the eye by clocking 51 seconds, including a final 600m in 37 seconds. Lucky Diamond also looked comfortable over the same distance, recording 51 seconds with a 38-second final split. Meanwhile, Neutralist clocked 52 seconds for the 800m, finishing the final 600m in 38 seconds. Other runners, including Starseed, Appalachian, and Moonlight Kiss, opted for more relaxed work, moving freely through their paces to maintain fitness levels as the racing season progresses.
