A group of notable thoroughbreds caught the eye during Tuesday morning's training session on September 1, as trainers put their charges through their paces on both the inner and outer sand tracks. Among the standout performers were
On the outer sand track, the work was highlighted by several sharp efforts over varying distances. Starzella, partnered with P. Trevor, covered 1200m in 1:24, clocking 1:09 for the 1000m split and finishing the final 600m in 42 seconds. Similarly, Gachchhatu demonstrated fine form over the same distance, recording a time of 1:26, with a 1000m split of 1:10.5 and a final 600m sprint of 41 seconds.
Strong performances across the training tracks
The 1400m gallops provided further insight into the condition of the stable stars. Stud Poker, ridden by Antony, moved attractively to clock 1:42.5, covering the 1200m in 1:27.5 and the 1000m in 1:13, before finishing with a 600m effort of 41.5 seconds. Miracle Star, under D. Patel, showed fluent movement to record 1:41 for the full distance, while Valiant Stream, with P. Trevor aboard, pleased onlookers with a 1:38.5 effort.
Other notable displays on the outer sand included Once You Go Black, who impressed with a 1:26 gallop over 1200m, and Shining Dawn, who moved impressively over 1600m in 1:58. In the shorter work, Emphatic caught the eye with a 600m time of 41.5 seconds, while Ice Of Fire looked in fine trim, completing 1000m in 1:12.5.
Gate practice sessions
The morning also featured extensive gate practice on the inner sand track, allowing horses to sharpen their starting speed. Among the notable pairings, Superstar and Charlie Brown completed their 1200m exercise in 1:19, with the former finishing four lengths clear. Transformative and Agrador also impressed, jumping out smartly to record a time of 1:23 for the distance.
Additional gate work saw True Punch and Royal Tribute both jumping out well, recording times of 1:23 and 1:24 respectively. While some runners, such as Quintus Arrius and She Rules, were noted as being slowly away, the overall session provided a productive morning of preparation for the horses involved as they continue their training cycles.
