The grey mare Winfield delivered a commanding performance to claim the Mahabubabad Plate, the headline event of the race day held on Monday, August 31. Guided by jockey Neeraj Rawal, the horse showcased superior form over the 1,800-meter distance to secure the win for trainer Darius Byramji.
Winfield crossed the finish line with a comfortable margin of 7-1/4 lengths ahead of the runner-up, N R I Triple Power, who was ridden by Shivam. Andre, with Antony Raj in the saddle, finished a short head behind in third place, while Corte Madera completed the frame in fourth. The winning time for the event was recorded at 1:51.05.
A Day of Competitive Racing
The Mahabubabad Plate was the centerpiece of a busy afternoon of racing, which featured a series of competitive events. Earlier in the day, the A. Krishnaswamy Memorial Trophy was contested across multiple divisions. In Division III, State Man, ridden by Dhanu S. Deora, claimed victory, while Perfect Attitude, under Antony Raj S, proved too strong for the field in Division I. Daring Spirit also secured a win in the second Division I running of the same trophy, with jockey Akshay Kumar steering the horse to a two-length victory.
Other notable performances included She’s A Bomb, who dominated the Gadwal Plate with a 9-1/4 length win, and Lazarus, who triumphed in the second division of the Fateh Maidan Club Trophy. In the first division of the same trophy, Tiger Ruby narrowly edged out the competition by a short head to take the top spot.
The race card concluded with the Bhupalpally Plate, where December Caspian, ridden by Mohit Singh, finished 1-1/2 lengths clear of the pack to secure the final win of the day. The event saw a range of outcomes for the race favorites, with several horses living up to expectations while others faced stiff challenges from the rest of the field.
