Elysium, Mahogany and Noraiah were the standout performers during Saturday morning’s track workouts at the Pune racecourse. As trainers and connections put their charges through their paces on September 26, these three horses caught the eye with impressive displays of speed and movement on the inner sand track.
The morning session provided a clear look at the current fitness levels of several contenders, with the trio of Elysium, Mahogany and Noraiah demonstrating particularly sharp form. Their efforts were among the highlights of a busy morning of preparation at the facility.
Standout performances on the inner sand
Elysium, partnered with jockey Akshay Kumar, produced a notable 1200m gallop, clocking 1:20 and finishing the final 600m in 39 seconds. The horse responded well to the rider's urgings throughout the exercise. Similarly, Noraiah, ridden by Mosin, covered the same 1200m distance in 1:20, with a final 600m split of 40 seconds, moving in an attractive fashion.
Mahogany, under the guidance of Vivek, delivered an impressive 1400m workout. Stopping the clock at 1:36, the horse showed strong acceleration, covering the final 600m in 38 seconds. Other notable performances included Little John, who moved nicely over 1000m in 1:05, and the pair of Absolute Honour and Priority Road, who finished neck-and-neck during their 1000m gate practice, clocking 1:05 with a final 600m of 38 seconds.
Additional training updates
The morning also featured several other horses working with varying degrees of intensity. Alpine Star looked sharp over 1000m, clocking 1:07, while Diego Garcia was pushed through a 1200m gallop in 1:23. Namiri and Shaandaar worked together over 1400m, finishing in 1:39, while Menorca completed the same distance in 1:37.
Earlier in the session, Sukoon and Fire Away moved level over 800m in 53 seconds. Other light work included Holding The Fort, Imperial Dawn, Vermeer, Minimus, Majestic Warrior, Majesticus, Café Noire, Chagall, True Promise, and Mila, all of whom completed their respective gallops without incident as preparations continue at the Pune track.
