Medal Success and Multi-Sport Progress
India’s medal tally saw further growth in the shooting range, where the women's 50m rifle 3 positions team—comprising Ashi Chouksey, Tilottama Sen, and Vidarsa Vinod—clinched silver. In the individual qualification for the same event, Sen finished third with 590 points, while Vinod placed sixth with 588 points, both earning their places in the individual final. Meanwhile, in archery, the women's compound team of Chikitha Taniparthi, Jyothi Surekha Vennam, and Prithika Pradeep finished second in the qualification round with a combined score of 2099.
The decathlon competition saw Tejaswin Shankar and Thowfeeq Noushad maintain a competitive presence. After finishing fifth and seventh in the 100m, Shankar surged to the top of the long jump standings with a leap of 7.53m, while Noushad took third place with 7.37m. Following these events, Shankar held second place overall with 1807 points, with Noushad sitting in fourth on 1759 points.
In other disciplines, the canoe sprint squad saw Parvathy Geetha and Prasanna Kumar reach Final A after a second-place finish in the mixed kayak double 500m semifinal. Harshwardhan Shaktawat moved into Final B of the men's kayak single 500m, while Raju Rawat and Neha Devi Leichonbam concluded their campaign in the mixed canoe double 500m final in eighth place. Fencing brought mixed fortunes; the women's foil team advanced to the quarter-finals by defeating Indonesia 45-24, but the men's sabre team, despite an opening win against the Philippines, was eliminated in the quarter-finals by South Korea.
The day also saw some exits for the Indian contingent. Badminton player Lakshya Sen was knocked out of the men's singles tournament following a three-game defeat to Singapore's Loh Kean Yew, finishing 12-21, 21-15, 14-21. In table tennis, Yashaswini Ghorpade was defeated in the third round of the women's singles by Japan's Miwa Harimoto, and in the esports arena, Paritosh exited the Puyo Puyo Champions quarter-finals after a 0-5 loss to Dongshin Kang.
