El Nino produced an eye-catching display during the morning training session on Wednesday, October 21, as horses were put through their paces on the inner sand track. The gallop served as a key indicator of form for the participants currently undergoing preparations at the facility.
The highlight of the morning was the 1200m workout involving El Nino, partnered with Yash, and Golden Gun, ridden by S.J. Sunil. El Nino began the exercise two lengths behind its stablemate but showed impressive acceleration to close the gap, eventually finishing level with Golden Gun. The pair clocked 1:23 for the full distance, with sectional times of 1:08 for the 1000m, 53 seconds for the 800m, and 40 seconds for the final 600m.
Additional track work and gate practice observations
Several other horses also completed their scheduled exercises throughout the morning. In the 1000m category, Hagibis caught the eye by clocking 1:09 for the distance. Meanwhile, other runners focused on shorter, steady work to maintain their conditioning. Bohemian Rhapsody, under Nazil, completed a 600m gallop in 40 seconds, while Kimiko and Flip That Switch also recorded comfortable efforts over 800m, finishing in 56 seconds and 54 seconds respectively.
The session also included gate practice on the inner sand, where Hari Kripa and Semurg were tested over 1000m. The pair completed the distance in 1:10, with Hari Kripa, ridden by Ranjane, finishing a distance ahead of Semurg. These morning sessions remain a vital part of the routine for trainers and jockeys as they fine-tune their charges for future competitive engagements.
