Patriots receiver A.J. Brown sidelined by ankle injury in debut loss to Seahawks

New England Patriots wide receiver A.J. Brown saw his debut for the team cut short on Wednesday night, as he was forced to leave the field during a 13-10 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. The injury occurred early in the third quarter, preventing the wideout from returning to the contest.

The incident took place following an incomplete third-down pass from quarterback Drake Maye. As Maye targeted Brown, Seahawks cornerback Nehemiah Pritchett provided tight coverage, and his right knee appeared to land on Brown’s ankle with significant force. Brown was seen grabbing the back of his right leg while seated on the turf before eventually making his way to the sideline under his own power. After spending time in the medical tent, he was escorted to the locker room by the athletic training staff.

Prior to his departure, Brown had recorded three receptions for 26 yards. He also played a key role in the Patriots' opening touchdown drive, drawing a defensive pass interference penalty after adjusting to an underthrown deep ball from Maye. That play set the stage for rookie tight end Eli Raridon to catch a 2-yard touchdown pass on the subsequent snap.

The Patriots acquired Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles on June 1 in a trade that involved a 2028 first-round draft pick. His early exit marks a difficult start to his tenure in New England, leaving the team to navigate the remainder of the narrow loss without their new offensive addition.
