Joel Embiid Dismisses LeBron James Practice Rumors as Unfounded

Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid has publicly refuted recent reports suggesting that LeBron James confronted him regarding his punctuality at practice. The claims, which circulated earlier this week, alleged that James had reprimanded the 76ers star for arriving late to a practice session, a narrative Embiid insists is completely fabricated.

Speaking following his preseason debut in a 114-108 loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday, Embiid expressed his frustration with the situation. He emphasized that the alleged incident never occurred and questioned why he has become the subject of such specific, unfounded scrutiny. The center noted that while such rumors are disappointing, the team must remain focused on their collective goals rather than being distracted by external noise.

Addressing the False Narrative

The rumors originated during a broadcast of the 76ers' 120-97 victory over the New York Knicks on Monday. During the game, MSG Networks announcer Mike Breen stated that he had been informed of an interaction where James allegedly criticized Embiid for being late to the court. The report was quickly challenged, with James taking to social media on Tuesday to label the claims as lies. Breen has since issued an apology regarding the comment.

Embiid suggested that his profile as a player often makes him an easy target for such speculation. He reiterated the importance of team unity, stating that as long as the players understand their own internal reality, they will be able to move past the distraction. Embiid maintained that he typically avoids addressing rumors, but felt compelled to clarify that the event simply did not take place.

Preseason Performance and Focus

Returning to the court for his first preseason action, Embiid recorded 8 points on 1-for-5 shooting across 24 minutes of play. His performance included three rebounds, three assists, and eight turnovers. Reflecting on his outing, the center acknowledged the need for improvement, particularly regarding his ball security.

Embiid noted that his early preseason appearances often require an adjustment period as he works to find his rhythm. He remains committed to refining his performance in the coming games, emphasizing that the primary objective is to improve his execution as the team prepares for the challenges of the upcoming season.
