At the MRF Indian National Racing Challenge held at Madras International Circuit, S. Gyan and Saishiva Sankaran achieved exciting wins.

S. Gyan and Saishiva Sankaran emerged victorious in their respective categories during the inaugural day of the MRF Indian National Racing Challenge 4W, held at the Madras International Circuit (MIC) on Saturday. Their performances highlighted a day filled with intense competition and strategic racing.

Thrilling Finish in Formula 2000

In the Formula 2000 race, Saishiva Sankaran seized the opportunity to claim victory as he navigated through a challenging final few laps. The race took a dramatic turn when leader Aditya Patnaik encountered difficulties with backmarkers, allowing Sankaran to overtake and secure the win. His final time was recorded at 14:47.457 seconds, narrowly ahead of Patnaik, who finished in second place with a time of 14:48.121 seconds. Swarnav Das completed the podium in third with a time of 14:53.134 seconds.

Formula 1600 and LGB 1300 Highlights

In the Formula 1600 category, S. Gyan showcased his racing prowess by moving into the lead late in the race. After trailing for a significant portion, he capitalized on Bhuvan Bonu's mechanical issues, crossing the finish line with a time of 16:28.952 seconds. Priyanka Vijay and Bhuvan Bonu followed, both finishing a lap behind Gyan.

The Formula LGB 1300 race saw Viswas Vijayaraj from DTS Racing dominate, finishing first with a time of 18:53.431 seconds. His teammates, Vinithkumar and Liron Jaden Samuels, secured second and third places, respectively. In the Junior category, Kaveen Divyan Rajapaksa from Momentum Motorsports took the top spot, clocking in at 19:21.510 seconds, followed by Abhijit Vadavalli and Yash Vikram Singh.

Earlier in the day, former national champion Arjun Narendran set the pace by securing pole position in the Indian Super Touring Cars class, while Neel Shah led the qualifying rounds for the Volkswagen Polo Cup. The event promises more excitement as the competition continues to unfold.
