Reflecting on her journey, the 35-year-old goalkeeper expressed her gratitude, stating, “When I started playing, I never thought I would have such a long journey in hockey. Overcoming Challenges with Family Support
Punia's path to success was not without its hurdles. She recounted a pivotal moment in 2011 when she considered quitting due to transportation issues. “I was at a bus stop in Delhi, feeling defeated and crying to my father, saying I didn’t want to play anymore,” she shared. Unlike many, her father refused to let her give up, purchasing a second-hand car to ensure she could continue her training. “It’s their sacrifices that helped me give my best for the team,” she said, emphasizing the importance of family in her journey.
