Paris Saint-Germain continued their pursuit of a third consecutive Champions League title on Tuesday, securing a hard-fought 4-2 victory against Barcelona at the Parc des Princes. The win keeps the reigning champions on a perfect trajectory in the competition, extending their current winning streak across all formats to seven matches.

The match remained finely balanced at 2-2 heading into the final ten minutes before Vitinha provided the decisive moment. The Portuguese midfielder controlled a delivery on his chest just outside the penalty area in the 81st minute, firing home a strike that restored the hosts' lead. Fabian Ruiz subsequently added a fourth goal to confirm the result, ending Barcelona’s impressive run of 11 consecutive victories this season.

A High-Stakes Battle at the Parc des Princes

The encounter began with Desire Doue opening the scoring for PSG in the 38th minute, capitalising on a misplaced pass in the midfield. Barcelona, who entered the fixture having scored 50 goals already this campaign, found an equaliser after the interval when Xavi Espart converted a pass from Fermin Lopez. Lucas Hernandez responded for the hosts by heading home from a corner, marking his first goal for the club since February 2024.

Barcelona fought back once more when Lamine Yamal punished a mistake by substitute Warren Zaire-Emery, netting his 10th goal of the season to level the score at 2-2. Despite the visitors' resilience, PSG’s late attacking surge proved too much to handle. Following the match, Barcelona coach Hansi Flick noted that while his side made too many errors, the game served as a valuable test. He emphasised that titles are not won in October, looking ahead to the remainder of the season.

The match was not without setbacks, as both sides dealt with injury concerns. PSG lost Ousmane Dembele to a hamstring issue just 20 minutes into the contest, while Barcelona saw Dani Olmo forced off. Doue, who stepped in for Dembele, expressed the squad's continued hunger as they look to maintain their momentum. Barcelona now shifts focus toward Sunday’s upcoming Clasico against Real Madrid, while PSG remains in a strong position to progress to the Champions League knockout stages.
