The decision to appoint Vinod followed a standout display of leadership during the final league match of the previous season against Goa in Porvorim. Despite playing on a pitch described as lifeless, Vinod’s proactive and inventive captaincy helped secure a nine-wicket victory. KCA secretary Vinod S. Kumar confirmed that this performance was a key factor in the selectors' decision, noting that the management was highly impressed by how the new captain marshalled his resources during that contest.

Kerala’s squad for the season features a blend of experienced campaigners and emerging talent. The batting lineup is anchored by senior players including Sachin Baby, Rohan S. Kunnummal, Mohammed Azharuddeen, and Salman Nizar. The bowling attack is led by M. D. Nidheesh, Eden Apple Tom, and Basil N.
