India's cricket team honors Sourav Ganguly by mimicking his iconic shirt-waving moment following their victory over England at Lord's.

In a remarkable homage to a historic cricket moment, India's Mixed Disability cricket team recreated Sourav Ganguly's iconic shirt-waving celebration at Lord's, 24 years after the original event. This nostalgic gesture followed India's impressive 118-run victory over England in a T20 match held on August 19, where the players celebrated by waving their shirts in the air, reminiscent of Ganguly's celebration after India's NatWest Trophy triumph in 2002 at the same venue.

India's Dominant Performance

During the match, India showcased a formidable batting performance, amassing a total of 206 runs for the loss of four wickets, marking their highest score in the seven-match series. Key contributions came from players such as Arjun Gaware, Major Magray, and Sai Akash, who all played pivotal roles in building a substantial total. In response, England struggled significantly, managing to score only 88 runs before being bowled out, resulting in a decisive win for India at the Festival of Disability Cricket.

Despite this loss, England had already clinched the series with a 4-3 lead prior to the match. The English bowlers faced challenges in containing India's aggressive batting, with Alfie Pyle being the standout performer, taking two wickets. However, the total set by India proved insurmountable for the home team, who were left searching for answers after their innings faltered.

Reflections on the Series

England's captain, Callum Flynn, expressed disappointment following the match, stating, “It’s such a disappointing end for us. We’ve fought so hard this series and done so much right, and I felt it was all leading to a sign-off win here, but it wasn’t to be." Despite the setback, Flynn remained optimistic about the future, hoping for another opportunity to secure a victory at Lord's. “As cricketers with disabilities, some of us might have imagined we’d never get the chance to play here - the next step now is getting a win here," he added.

While England celebrated their series win, the quest for a victory at Lord's continues, leaving both teams with memories of a thrilling contest and aspirations for future encounters.
