Shreyas Iyer Breaks Into T20I Top 10 Following Maiden Century

India captain Shreyas Iyer has achieved a significant career milestone, breaking into the top 10 of the ICC T20I batting rankings for the first time. The 31-year-old climbed 18 places to reach seventh position following a spectacular performance in the series opener against the West Indies in Lucknow, where he smashed an unbeaten 102 from just 43 deliveries.

This maiden T20I century has bolstered India’s dominance in the shortest format, with the nation now boasting four players within the top 10 batting rankings. Iyer joins teammates Ishan Kishan, who holds the top spot, second-ranked Abhishek Sharma, and Tilak Varma, who sits at number 10.

Significant Shifts in Bowling and ODI Rankings

The latest ICC update also highlights a rise for Indian all-rounder Axar Patel, who moved up 16 places to seventh in the T20I bowling rankings. Meanwhile, the top of the bowling charts saw a change as Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan reclaimed the number one position, displacing Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed. Other notable movements in the bowling top 10 include Bangladesh’s Nasum Ahmed, who rose to eighth, and Mahedi Hasan, who jumped 10 spots to ninth.

In the ODI format, Shubman Gill has further solidified his position as the world's top-ranked batter. His unbeaten 223 in the second ODI against the West Indies in Guwahati helped secure a series victory for India and increased his rating to 841 points. West Indies captain Shai Hope also saw gains, moving to sixth following his 162-run knock in the final match of the series, while KL Rahul climbed seven places to joint 10th.

The rankings update also recognized emerging performances, with West Indies left-hander Amir Jangoo making a substantial leap into the top 100 to reach 55th. Among bowlers, West Indies pacer Jayden Seales reached a career-high 10th position after a four-wicket haul against India. Additionally, USA veteran Milind Kumar moved to 10th among ODI all-rounders following his recent century against the UAE in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2.
