Jasprit Bumrah Sets New T20I Milestone for Full Member Nations

Jasprit Bumrah has etched his name into the record books once again, establishing himself as the leading bowler from a Full Member nation for maiden overs in T20I cricket. The Indian pace spearhead reached this significant milestone during the second T20I against Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Opening the bowling for India, Bumrah delivered a clinical maiden over, marking his 13th in the format. This achievement allowed him to surpass Zimbabwe’s Richard Ngarava, who previously held the record among Full Member nations with 12 maidens.

Bumrah Joins Elite International Rankings

In his 98th T20I appearance, Bumrah has now moved into a joint-fourth position on the all-time list of bowlers with the most maiden overs in international T20 cricket. He currently shares this standing with Thailand’s N. Senamontree, who has also recorded 13 maidens across 59 matches.

While the overall global leaderboard is led by bowlers from Associate nations—specifically Uganda’s F. Nsubuga and Rwanda’s Muhammad Nadir, who both hold 19 maidens, followed by Kenya’s S.O. Ngoche with 16—Bumrah stands alone as the most prolific bowler in this category among the sport's top-tier Full Member nations.

India Clinches Series Victory

Beyond Bumrah’s individual success, India secured a dominant seven-wicket victory to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. After restricting Afghanistan to 159 for eight, India chased down the target with 31 balls remaining, finishing on 163 for three.

The bowling effort was spearheaded by Nitish Kumar Reddy, who claimed impressive figures of 3/24, supported by Arshdeep Singh’s 2/35. In the subsequent chase, Sanju Samson led the scoring with a blistering 57 off just 22 deliveries. Contributions from Abhishek Sharma, who struck 39 off 19 balls, and an unbeaten 38 from Ishan Kishan ensured a comfortable win for the hosts.
