The complainant has alleged that Porel initiated a romantic relationship with her under the pretense of marriage. However, she claims that after their relationship ended, he threatened to release private photographs of her. The police have registered a case against Porel under 19 sections of the law, with many of the charges being non-bailable. The complaint also details an incident that reportedly took place in Delhi on April 2, 2026, where the woman alleges she was confined, deprived of food, and isolated, which left her in a physically weakened state.
Furthermore, the woman stated that discussions regarding marriage had taken place between their families, but the relationship soured when she discovered Porel's alleged involvement with other women. This revelation reportedly contributed to the breakdown of their relationship.
Judicial Proceedings and Next Steps
The case has previously been brought before the Calcutta High Court, where Justice Saugata Bhattacharyya ordered the Magra Police Station to seize electronic devices, including Porel’s mobile phone, for further investigation. During the hearing on August 11, law enforcement officials informed the court of Porel's arrest and subsequent remand. As the legal proceedings continue, Porel remains in judicial custody, with the court denying his request for bail.
