In response, Kohli offered a simple yet powerful message: “Just show up.” This advice resonated deeply with Sindhu, who explained that Kohli encouraged her to prioritize participation over the pressure of outcomes. “He told me to just go out there and play my game. You have trained hard, and you know your capabilities,” she recalled. This conversation, according to Sindhu, was pivotal in shifting her mindset towards competition.

At 31, Sindhu maintains a close relationship with Kohli, often sharing her successes with him. “Whenever I win, I tell him about my achievements. In her opening match, she decisively defeated Ireland's Sophia Noble with a score of 21-7, 21-11, advancing to the Round of 32 in just 29 minutes.
