PV Sindhu and Anmol Kharb to clash in all-Indian Hylo Open semi-final

Indian badminton stars PV Sindhu and Anmol Kharb are set to face off in an all-Indian women's singles semi-final at the Hylo Open 2026 in Germany. The duo secured their places in the final four following impressive performances in their respective quarter-final matches on Friday.

Joining them in the semi-finals is Lakshya Sen, who navigated a challenging men's singles encounter at the Saarlandhalle. The seventh seed demonstrated significant resilience, overcoming a slow start to keep his tournament campaign alive.

Sindhu and Kharb advance in Germany

Second seed PV Sindhu continued her dominant run in the tournament with a clinical display against Denmark's Amalie Schulz. Sindhu required only 28 minutes to dispatch her opponent, securing a 21-12, 21-10 victory. The two-time Olympic medallist maintained control throughout the match, never relinquishing the lead in either game to register her second career win over the Dane.

On the other side of the draw, Anmol Kharb emerged victorious from a grueling 68-minute battle against sixth seed Unnati Hooda. In their first BWF World Tour meeting, the two 19-year-olds traded momentum throughout the three-game thriller. After taking the opening game 21-17, Kharb saw her opponent force a decider by winning the second game 21-18. In the final game, despite trailing 6-3 early on, Kharb surged ahead by winning eight consecutive points to establish a 19-12 lead, eventually closing out the match 21-16.

Lakshya Sen rallies to reach semi-finals

In the men's singles draw, Lakshya Sen secured his spot in the semi-finals by mounting a comeback against Finland's Kalle Koljonen. After dropping the opening game 14-21, the Indian shuttler adjusted his rhythm to take the second 21-17. The deciding game remained competitive until 4-4, at which point Sen shifted gears to pull away, ultimately winning 21-13.

This victory marks a significant milestone for Sen, as it is his first individual BWF World Tour semi-final appearance since his runner-up finish at the All England Open earlier this year. The tournament continues with the semi-final fixtures scheduled to determine the finalists for the BWF Super 500 event.
