Indian track and field athletes enjoyed a successful Sunday at the Asian Games, with
Shankar, the national record holder, concluded his decathlon campaign with a total of 7,934 points. His path to the bronze medal was solidified by a determined effort in the 1500m race, the final event of the competition, which he won with a time of 4:33.09. Having entered the second day of competition leading the standings with 4,338 points—accumulated through the 100m, long jump, shot put, high jump, and 400m—Shankar maintained his composure to secure his place among the top three.
