The competition is set to take place just before the main draw of the Australian Open, which is scheduled for January 17-31 at Melbourne Park.

The inaugural edition of the 1 Point Slam saw an unexpected champion emerge in Jordan Smith, a relatively unknown amateur from Australia. Smith made headlines by defeating professional player Jannik Sinner, ultimately claiming the title after Joanna Garland, ranked No. 117 in the women’s circuit from Taiwan, faltered on the decisive point. The format of the tournament is distinctive, with each match consisting of just a single point, allowing a diverse mix of participants, including both male and female players, professionals, amateurs, and even celebrities.

Reflecting on his remarkable journey, Smith expressed his disbelief at how far he has come since starting his tennis career at a qualifying event in Sydney Olympic Park. “I never expected it would lead to me stepping onto Rod Laver Arena and competing against world-class players, let alone walking away as the winner. It completely changed my life,” he stated in a recent announcement from the Australian Open.
