The Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) has confirmed its leadership structure for the upcoming 2026-27 term following the conclusion of its 111th Annual General Meeting. The proceedings, which were conducted via video conferencing on Thursday evening, resulted in the unopposed election of the entire managing committee.

With exactly nine nominations submitted for the nine available positions, the election process saw no contests for the primary committee seats. Consequently, Surendra R. Sanas will remain in his role as the chairman of the RWITC, while Ram H. Shroff continues his tenure as the chairman of the Stewards body.

Managing Committee and Board of Appeal Appointments

The newly confirmed managing committee for the 2026-27 term features a blend of experienced members. Joining Sanas and Shroff on the committee are K.N. Dhunjibhoy, Vijay B. Shirke, Jaydev M. Mody, Sunil G. Jhangiani, Gautam P. Lala, Shiven Surendranath, and Jiyaji Bhosale.

While the managing committee positions were decided without a vote, the election for the Board of Appeal (BoA) required a ballot. Three candidates stood for the two available seats on the Board of Appeal for the 2026-2029 term. Following the count, Geoffrey B. Nagpal secured the highest support with 570 valid votes. He is joined on the board by Zinia Lawyer, who received 380 votes, while Shivlal R. Daga concluded the polling with 311 votes.
