A selection of horses caught the eye during Thursday morning's training session on September 17, with Stud Poker, Moonveil and Galahad delivering particularly notable performances on the outer sand track. Trainers and observers were treated to a series of sharp gallops as the horses continued their preparations.
Among the standout performers, Galahad, ridden by Shreyas, produced a strong display over 1600m. The horse clocked 1-57 for the full distance, showing consistent pace with sectional times of 1-38.5 for 1400m, 1-23.5 for 1200m, 1-09.5 for 1000m, and finishing the final 600m in 42 seconds.
Strong gallops on the outer sand
Moonveil also impressed during a solo effort over 1400m. Shreyas guided the horse to a time of 1-38.5, maintaining momentum throughout the exercise. The splits were equally encouraging, with the horse covering 1200m in 1-24, 1000m in 1-10, and completing the final 600m in 41.5 seconds, marking a fine display of fitness.
In a pair-work exercise, Stud Poker, with Antony in the saddle, worked alongside Refreshment, ridden by Girish. The duo covered 1400m in 1-41. Stud Poker was the more eye-catching of the two, showing a pleasing turn of speed to clock 1-25 for 1200m, 1-10.5 for 1000m, and a sharp 40.5 seconds for the final 600m.
Additional training notes
Other horses also made progress during the morning session. Seize The Grey, under Salman, impressed over 1000m with a time of 1-12, finishing the final 600m in 42 seconds. Amazing Attraction, also partnered with Salman, covered the same distance in 1-15, with a 600m split of 43 seconds. Meanwhile, Diana, ridden by Rajesh K, completed a 600m stretch in 44 seconds, showing good form in the shorter work.
