Kavya Claims Pune City Gold Cup as Aman Altaf Hussain Secures Treble

Kavya emerged as the star of the day at the Pune races on Saturday, September 12, clinching the prestigious Pune City Gold Cup. Ridden by jockey N.S. Parmar, the filly delivered a commanding performance in the 1,600-metre feature event, crossing the finish line 2-1/2 lengths ahead of Dream Alliance, with Sovereign King and Shambala rounding out the top four. The victory for the M.K. Jadhav-trained runner, owned by Mr. Prashant Nagar on behalf of SKJ Thoroughbreds Pvt. Ltd., was well-supported by punters who sent the filly off as the race favourite.

While the feature race belonged to Kavya, the day was defined by the tactical brilliance of trainer Aman Altaf Hussain. Hussain enjoyed a stellar outing, securing a grand treble across the afternoon’s card. His success began with Fourth Wing in the Mysore Race Club Trophy, followed by a victory for Spotlight in the Good Life Company Trophy, and was capped off by Yinsiruk’s win in the Panchshil Million. Spotlight’s performance was particularly notable, as the runner clocked a record time of 1m 4.24s over the 1,100-metre distance.

The Animal Welfare Board of India Trophy, run over 2,000 metres, saw an upset as Golden Eye, trained by Dallas Todywalla and ridden by Neeraj Rawal, secured victory at odds of ₹105. The day’s proceedings concluded with the Star of Gibraltar Plate, where Baleno, owned and trained by Karthik Ganapathy, edged out a narrow win in a closely contested finish, prevailing by a neck over Madison.
