A selection of thoroughbreds caught the eye during Saturday morning's training session at the Pune racecourse, with Crown Invictus, Ashwa Tazbeez, and Red Lightning delivering standout performances ahead of upcoming race meetings.

A group of thoroughbreds produced eye-catching performances during Saturday morning's track work session at the Pune racecourse. Among the standout performers, Crown Invictus, Ashwa Tazbeez, and Red Lightning displayed impressive form as they were put through their paces on the inner sand track.

The morning session provided trainers and observers with a clear look at the condition of several horses currently in preparation. With the track conditions facilitating solid work, the gallops were largely focused on maintaining fitness and sharpness, with several notable pairings and individual efforts recorded throughout the morning.

Strong Gallops and Notable Pairings

In the 800-metre gallops, Crown Invictus, partnered with Nazil, showed significant promise by clocking 50 seconds for the distance, including a sharp 37-second final 600-metre split. The horse moved with purpose, finishing three lengths clear of Mai Tai. Similarly, Ashwa Tazbeez, ridden by Gore, demonstrated superior form over the same distance, stopping the clock at 50 seconds with a 37-second final section to finish three lengths ahead of Ashwa Gypsy. Red Lightning also caught the eye during the 800-metre work, moving nicely to record a time of 50 seconds, with a final 600-metre burst of 38 seconds.

Other notable efforts included Shamara, who finished five lengths clear of Luna after clocking 52 seconds for the 800-metre stretch. Meanwhile, Pentimento and Lady Sovereign maintained a steady pace, finishing level in 54 seconds. In the 1000-metre category, Ensky impressed with a time of 1 minute and 5 seconds, covering the final 600 metres in 38 seconds under pressure. Tonto also performed well, clocking 1 minute and 6 seconds for the 1000-metre distance, while Midas Touch matched that time, showing good work throughout the gallop. Rogue and Dash completed their 1000-metre work in 1 minute and 7 seconds, moving neck and neck throughout the exercise.

Steady Progress in Longer Gallops

The 1200-metre work saw Loyal Lover pushed to record a time of 1 minute and 23 seconds, with the final 600 metres completed in 42 seconds. Leo The Lion also participated in the longer distance, working freely to clock 1 minute and 26 seconds. Earlier in the morning, the 600-metre sprints saw Bravion clock 41 seconds, while the pair of Starlight Serenade and Shadow Phoenix also recorded 41 seconds in an easy piece of work. These sessions continue to serve as vital preparation for the horses as they build towards their next competitive engagements on the track.
