A reunion of brothers in Los Angeles
Patrick Herbert arrives in Los Angeles following a stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he spent the previous season on the practice squad. Although he was elevated to the active roster for the Jaguars' season finale against the Tennessee Titans, he did not see game action as a healthy scratch. His collegiate career at Oregon saw him appear in 41 games over three seasons, where he primarily developed as a blocking tight end, recording 31 receptions for 388 yards and four touchdowns.
The addition of the younger Herbert provides the Chargers with extra depth in the tight end room. He joins a unit that currently features David Njoku, Charlie Kolar, Oronde Gadsden, and Scott Matlock. The brothers, separated by two and a half years in age, previously experienced the NFL from opposite sides of the ball when the Chargers and Jaguars faced off in Week 11 of last season.
