Ravens face injury concerns as Zay Flowers listed doubtful against Saints

The Baltimore Ravens are heading into Sunday’s matchup against the New Orleans Saints with significant personnel concerns after wide receiver Zay Flowers was officially listed as doubtful. The playmaker aggravated a left hamstring injury during the team's 41-23 season-opening victory over the Indianapolis Colts and was unable to participate in the majority of practice sessions throughout the week.

Flowers has emerged as a vital component of the Baltimore offense, recording 91 receptions for 1,361 yards over his last 18 appearances. His potential absence creates a notable void, as the rest of the team's wide receiver corps has combined for only 55 catches and 814 yards during that same period. Should he be sidelined, Rashod Bateman is expected to step into a primary role alongside teammates LaJohntay Wester, Devontez Walker, Elijah Sarratt, and Chris Moore.

Defensive setbacks and depth chart adjustments

Beyond the uncertainty surrounding Flowers, the Ravens have confirmed that Pro Bowl defensive tackle Nnamdi Madubuike will miss the contest. Despite being a limited participant in practice throughout the week, Madubuike remains sidelined as he continues his recovery from a significant neck injury.

Head coach Jesse Minter expressed confidence in the depth of his roster despite the injury report. Regarding the receiving corps, Minter noted that the team's preparation throughout OTAs and training camp has ensured that all players are ready to contribute when called upon. The coach also addressed the status of offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley, who is currently questionable with a toe injury. If Stanley is unable to suit up, Carson Vinson is poised to make his first career start. Minter praised Vinson’s physical and aggressive playing style, stating that the coaching staff is pleased with his development.

Injury report updates

The Ravens' status report also includes three starters listed as questionable for the weekend: linebacker Trey Hendrickson, who is dealing with a finger injury, and guard John Simpson, who is managing a groin issue. For Flowers, missing Sunday’s game would be a rare occurrence, as he has only been inactive for three games due to injury across his four-season career. His last absence came during the 2024 AFC divisional playoff loss to the Buffalo Bills.
