GREEN BAY, Wis. — As Aaron Rodgers approaches what he has indicated may be his final season in the NFL, he reflects on the bittersweet reality of not playing at Lambeau Field as a visitor. Ahead of the upcoming preseason matchup between the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers, Rodgers expressed his disappointment during a Zoom call with reporters, revealing that he had hoped the game would take place in Green Bay.

“When I heard it was possible to play both my former teams, I was really hoping this one was going to be in Green Bay,” Rodgers stated. He reminisced about the prospect of returning to the iconic stadium, not only to compete but also to reconnect with familiar faces in the community. “I was really hoping it was going to be in Green Bay for a lot of reasons,” he added, mentioning his desire to visit local spots like Chives restaurant and the Green Bay Country Club.

Rodgers, who spent 18 seasons with the Packers before his trade to the New York Jets in 2023, has not had the opportunity to face his former team during his tenure with the Jets. After joining the Steelers in 2025, he played against the Packers last season at Acrisure Stadium, where Green Bay emerged victorious with a score of 35-25. Despite the distance, Rodgers maintains a strong emotional connection to the Packers and the city of Green Bay.

Looking ahead, Rodgers acknowledged the likelihood of returning to Lambeau Field in the future, especially if he is inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. “There first has to be an invite back,” he remarked, hinting at the possibility of his name being honored alongside other Packers greats.
