Luka Doncic ruled out for Lakers' clash against Clippers

The Los Angeles Lakers face a significant personnel challenge for their upcoming matchup against the LA Clippers at the Intuit Dome this Wednesday. The team has officially confirmed that star player Luka Doncic will be unavailable for the contest due to back tightness, marking a notable absence for the Lakers as they look to bounce back from their first defeat of the season.

Doncic, who currently leads the NBA in scoring with an average of 36.0 points per game, is coming off a high-intensity performance in Tuesday's 136-129 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers. Despite contributing 41 points in that outing, the physical toll of the back-to-back schedule has forced the team to sideline their primary offensive weapon for the midweek encounter.

Personnel changes impact both rosters

In addition to the absence of their leading scorer, the Lakers will also be without starter Ziaire Williams. The team reported that Williams is dealing with soreness in his left foot, further thinning the rotation for the visitors as they navigate the second night of a back-to-back set.

The Clippers are also managing their own injury concerns heading into the game. Forward Rui Hachimura has been ruled out due to left quad soreness. Hachimura, who previously recorded 16 points in a 125-117 victory over the Clippers at Crypto.com Arena just last week, will be replaced in the starting lineup by Kobe Sanders. This game marks the first start of the season for Sanders as the Clippers adjust their rotation to compensate for Hachimura's unavailability.
