India Secures Impressive 7-1 Victory Over Pakistan in FIH Pro League

The Indian men's hockey team showcased an impressive performance, decisively defeating their long-standing rivals, Pakistan, with a score of 7-1 during the FIH Pro League match held at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre in London on June 26, 2026. This victory came after an early setback, as India quickly turned the tide in their favor.

Early Setback and Quick Recovery

The match commenced with high intensity, with India earning a penalty corner within the first two minutes, thanks to a dynamic run by Mandeep Singh. However, it was Pakistan who struck first, capitalizing on a penalty corner in the 13th minute. Captain Abu Bakar Mahmood executed a successful drag-flick, putting Pakistan ahead 1-0. Despite this early challenge, India responded with resilience. In the 20th minute, Sukhjeet Singh leveled the score by deftly redirecting a powerful drag-flick from Harmanpreet Singh during a penalty corner.

As the first half progressed, India continued to assert their dominance. Harmanpreet Singh found the back of the net again in the 26th minute, scoring from another penalty corner to give India a 2-1 lead at halftime. The momentum shifted significantly in India's favor after Pakistan's Ahmad Nadeem was forced to leave the field due to an injury, further weakening their defense.

Second Half Surge

The second half saw India maintain their aggressive approach. In the 34th minute, a series of penalty corners culminated in a penalty stroke, which Hardik Singh converted with composure, extending the lead to 3-1. Pakistan attempted to respond with their own penalty corners, but the Indian defense held strong. Shortly after, India launched a counter-attack, with Dilpreet Singh assisting Jugraj Singh, who scored in the 35th minute, pushing the score to 4-1.

India's offensive onslaught continued as Sukhjeet set up Abhishek for a goal in the 41st minute. The Indian team was relentless, and Raj Kumar Pal added another goal in the 44th minute, tapping in a rebound from a drag-flick. Dilpreet Singh capped off the scoring with a final goal in the 54th minute, sealing a commanding 7-1 victory. Despite a couple of late penalty corners for Pakistan, veteran midfielder Manpreet Singh's defensive efforts ensured that India maintained their significant lead throughout the match.
