Testing Programme and Technical Progression
The testing schedule commenced with Maini behind the wheel of a TPC (Testing Previous Car) machine. During the opening day, he navigated fluctuating weather conditions that required him to adapt to wet, intermediate, and soft tyre compounds. Despite the challenging environment, he managed to complete 82 laps as the track transitioned from a wet morning to drier conditions by the afternoon.
On the second day, the focus shifted to a 2025-specification car, the same model Maini utilised during the official Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi last December. With more favourable dry conditions, he was able to maximise his track time, completing over 500 kilometres. This brought his total distance for the two-day test to approximately 850 kilometres, offering the team substantial data and the driver significant experience in high-performance equipment.
Momentum Heading Into Formula 2 Return
Reflecting on the experience, Maini expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to continue his development with the team. He noted that the team successfully maximised the planned run programme and expressed hope that the performance data gathered would assist Alpine in their ongoing championship efforts. The Indian driver is now set to shift his focus back to his competitive commitments in the FIA Formula 2 Championship.
Maini enters the next phase of the Formula 2 season in strong form, currently holding sixth place in the Drivers' Championship. His recent performance, which includes two podium finishes in his last three races, has kept him in contention for what could be the highest-ever championship finish for an Indian driver in the category. He will look to carry the momentum from his Alpine testing experience into the upcoming race weekend at Monza.
