Mikel Arteta Addresses Speculation About His Future with Arsenal: 'There's No Need for...'

Mikel Arteta has addressed concerns among Arsenal fans regarding his future with the club, reassuring them that there is no need for alarm. As he enters the final year of his contract, the manager emphasized his commitment to the Premier League champions, stating, “Don’t worry.”

Arteta, who led Arsenal to their first Premier League title in 22 years last May, has yet to finalize a new contract despite expectations following the historic achievement. As the team gears up to face Manchester City in the Community Shield this Sunday, discussions about a contract extension have not progressed significantly. The Spaniard, who took the helm at Arsenal in 2019, last renewed his contract in 2024.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his contract, Arteta expressed confidence that a new agreement will be reached in due time. “They don’t have to worry about any of that, because I want to be here,” he told reporters on Friday. “I am extremely happy. I feel very grateful to work with the people that I work with, and when we have the possibility, we will resolve that. And that’s it.”

Arteta indicated that the club's focus during the transfer window has taken precedence over contract negotiations. “There is always another priority, I think! That’s the way we have been treating it,” he explained. “I think because my will, certainly, is to be here and I am very happy here. My feeling from the club is the same one. That is why everyone is doing things in a really organic way.”

In preparation for the upcoming season, Arsenal has bolstered their squad by acquiring Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes and Club Brugge forward Christos Tzolis. Additionally, they have made Piero Hincapie’s loan from Bayer Leverkusen permanent and signed goalkeeper Illan Meslier on a free transfer. However, Arteta faced challenges in securing other targets, including Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers and Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior, during a transfer window where rivals like Manchester City, Tottenham, and Chelsea have each invested heavily in new players.

Despite the competitive landscape, Arteta remains optimistic about his squad's capabilities. “I am really happy with the squad, the players that I have, and I am really happy with the ambition of the club,” he stated.
