Lazio Surge to Serie A Summit After Dominant Victory Over Juventus

Lazio delivered a statement performance in Turin on Sunday, dismantling Juventus 3-0 to move level on points with Inter Milan at the top of the Serie A table. While the visitors currently sit behind the defending champions on goal difference, the result marks a significant milestone for the club, which has now accumulated 19 points from its opening seven matches. This tally surpasses the 17 points secured by Sven-Goran Eriksson’s side during the 1999-2000 season, a campaign that ultimately ended in a league title.

The victory leaves Juventus in a precarious position, with the home side booed off the pitch by their own supporters. Having managed only one win in their last five league outings, Juventus now languish in eighth place, trailing the league leaders by eight points. For Lazio, the focus remains on maintaining their momentum, with coach Gennaro Gattuso urging his squad to remain grounded despite their impressive start.

A Clinical Display in Turin

Lazio’s dominance was anchored by a strong Danish influence, with Oliver Provstgaard breaking the deadlock in the 37th minute. The towering centre-back rose above the Juventus defence to guide a header into the far post. The visitors doubled their advantage in the 66th minute when winger Gustav Isaksen cut inside his marker to slot a low finish home. The win was sealed in the 87th minute when substitute Fisayo Dele-Bashiru embarked on a solo run from his own half, driving into the penalty area before finding the net to complete the 3-0 scoreline.

AC Milan and Como Secure Vital Wins

Elsewhere in Serie A, AC Milan maintained their pursuit of the leaders with a 3-2 victory over Atalanta. The match was defined by a difficult debut for Atalanta’s 20-year-old defender Relja Obric, who conceded a penalty for handball shortly after entering the fray. Goncalo Ramos converted the resulting spot-kick, and Adrien Rabiot added a second before the interval. Although Atalanta fought back with goals from Gianluca Gaetano and Nikola Krstovic, a Mario Gila header proved enough to secure the points for Milan.

Meanwhile, Como climbed to fifth in the standings after a 3-1 win away at Fiorentina. First-half strikes from Mattia Liberali and Nico Paz provided the foundation for the victory, and despite a goal from Marin Pongracic, Como held firm to claim their first win in four matches. In the day's other fixture, Lecce secured a convincing 3-0 away win against Udinese, with Kialonda Gaspar, Konan N’Dri, and Jamil Siebert all contributing to the scoreline.
