Anneke Bosch masterclass leads South Africa to opening T20I win over Zimbabwe

Nthabiseng Nini was the standout performer with the ball, dismantling the Zimbabwean lineup with a spell of 3/17 from her 3.3 overs. Her ability to strike at crucial intervals ensured that Zimbabwe could never establish a platform to post a challenging total. Modester Mupachikwa provided the most resistance for the hosts, top-scoring with 36 off 43 balls, while Michelle Mavunga added a quick 21 off 18 deliveries. Despite these efforts, the home side lost wickets at regular intervals, failing to bat out their full quota of overs.

Supported by Nondumiso Shangase, Bosch ensured that the required run rate never became an issue. While the early loss of their captain might have caused concern, the middle order remained composed. With Kayla Reyneke and Annerie Dercksen also contributing to the team's effort, South Africa reached the target of 117 with six wickets and plenty of time to spare. The victory gives South Africa a 1-0 lead in the series, with the focus now shifting to the second T20I.
