In a remarkable display of batting prowess, Hampshire's Toby Albert achieved the extraordinary feat of hitting six sixes in six consecutive balls during a One-Day Cup match against Sussex in Hove on Sunday. Albert's innings, which saw him score 86 runs off just 37 deliveries, was a game-changer. His six sixes came in two overs, significantly altering the momentum of the match. This total marked Hampshire's second-highest in List A cricket, trailing only their record of 396-5 against Kent in 2022. The 383 runs also matched the highest team score recorded in the 2026 One-Day Cup, previously set by Lancashire at 389-4 against Leicestershire.

Entering the game with approximately 15 overs remaining, Albert quickly made his presence felt. His remarkable sequence began with two sixes off the final two balls of the 43rd over, bowled by Nantes Oosthuizen, bringing him to a rapid fifty in just 26 balls. He then faced Ollie Kirtley, unleashing four more sixes in succession to complete his astonishing run of six maximums. Albert's 26-ball fifty stands as the fastest in this year's One-Day Cup, showcasing his explosive batting style.

Prior to Albert's fireworks, Hampshire had already established a solid foundation. Ben Mayes, in his season debut, scored a commendable 109 runs off 115 balls, marking his first List A century. His opening partner, Ali Orr, also contributed significantly with a score of 105 off 100 balls, as the duo amassed 225 runs in 35 overs.
