Tribe leads Jersey to competitive total
Jersey secured a hard-fought 34-run victory over Qatar in Match 45 of the
Qatar’s bowling attack, led by Mirza Mohammed Baig, managed to keep the scoring in check at crucial intervals. Baig was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with impressive figures of 3/25 from his four overs. Despite his success in curbing the flow of runs, the partnership between Tribe and Lawrenson provided Jersey with the necessary momentum to set a target of 195 for victory.
Tribe shines with the ball to seal the win
Chasing 195, Qatar’s innings got off to a difficult start as they lost an early wicket. While Zubair Ali provided some resistance with a fighting 54 off 43 balls, supported by Imal Liyanage, the middle order struggled to maintain the required run rate against a disciplined Jersey attack. The turning point of the chase arrived when Muhammad Asim was dismissed, caught by Benjamin Ward off the bowling of Zak Tribe, effectively breaking the back of Qatar’s resistance.
Tribe, having already made his mark with the bat, proved equally lethal with the ball. He dismantled the Qatar lineup, finishing with remarkable figures of 4/16 from his three overs. Benjamin Ward also provided excellent support, ensuring that the pressure remained on the batting side throughout the innings. Qatar were eventually bowled out for 160, falling 34 runs short of their target. The victory highlights Jersey’s ability to defend a total through a combination of aggressive batting and clinical bowling, with Tribe rightfully earning the Player of the Match award for his comprehensive all-round contribution.
