Experienced Candidates in the Running
Flower, who held the England coaching role from 2009 to 2014, is reportedly the top choice for the ECB, despite potential scheduling conflicts due to his commitments with RCB and London Spirit in The Hundred. The 58-year-old is currently contemplating whether he is ready to return to the intense environment of international coaching.
Stephen Fleming has re-entered the conversation as a serious candidate following the conclusion of his long tenure with CSK. Previously, he had declined an approach from the ECB before McCullum's appointment in 2022, but his newfound availability has rekindled interest from the board.
