Stefanova sets the tone with the ball

Bulgaria Women claimed a tense two-wicket victory over Romania Women in Match 3 of the ECA Women's European Cup at the Moara Vlasiei Cricket Ground in Bucharest. The result was largely dictated by a disciplined bowling display from the Bulgarian side, spearheaded by Player of the Match Deya Stefanova. After Romania won the toss and elected to bat, they struggled to build momentum, finishing their 15 overs at 75/5. Stefanova was the standout performer with the ball, returning figures of 2/15 from her three overs to restrict the Romanian scoring rate.

Gabriela Ionita provided the most resistance for Romania, top-scoring with 20 runs from 39 balls, while Alina Lupascu contributed 18 runs off 37 deliveries. Despite their efforts to anchor the innings, the Romanian batting lineup found it difficult to accelerate against a focused Bulgarian attack, leaving the visitors with a modest target of 76 to chase for victory.

Bulgaria survive early scare to clinch win

The chase for 76 proved to be far from straightforward for Bulgaria. The innings got off to a rocky start, with the team losing three early wickets. The pressure intensified when Vili Nikolova fell with the score at just 18 in the second over, leaving the Bulgarian middle order with a significant recovery job to do.

Simona Yordanova emerged as the key figure in the response, playing a vital knock of 17 runs from 16 balls to steady the ship. Supported by Martina Abadjieva, Yordanova helped navigate the team through the middle phase of the innings. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, Bulgaria managed to maintain their composure to reach the target of 76/8, securing the win with two wickets in hand. The victory highlights the resilience of the Bulgarian side in a low-scoring contest where every run proved critical to the final outcome.
