Schutt leads clinical bowling display

Australia Women wrapped up their home series against Bangladesh in dominant fashion, securing an eight-wicket victory at Allan Border Field in Brisbane. The win completed a comprehensive 3-0 series sweep, with Megan Schutt serving as the architect of the final victory. After winning the toss and electing to bowl, Australia restricted Bangladesh to 172 all out in 49.5 overs, a total that never looked likely to challenge the hosts.

Schutt was the standout performer with the ball, delivering a masterclass in accuracy and pressure. She finished with exceptional figures of 4/16 from her 10 overs, effectively stifling any momentum the visitors attempted to build. While Shorna Akter provided some resistance with a fighting 54 off 71 balls and Sharmin Akhter contributed 50 off 93, the Bangladesh batting lineup struggled to find fluency against the disciplined Australian attack. Ashleigh Gardner also played a key supporting role, ensuring the pressure remained constant throughout the innings.

Sutherland powers successful chase

The Australian response began with a brief moment of concern when Georgia Voll fell early, leaving the hosts at 13/2 after just 1.4 overs. However, any hopes of a Bangladesh fightback were quickly extinguished by a commanding partnership between Annabel Sutherland and Ellyse Perry. Sutherland took the initiative, playing with aggressive intent to take the game away from the visitors.

Sutherland finished unbeaten on 74 from just 52 balls, steering Australia to their target of 173 with ease. Her ability to find the boundary consistently ensured the required run rate never became an issue. With Perry providing stability at the other end, Australia reached 175/2 to seal the match and the series. The result underscored Australia's superiority throughout the tour, with Schutt deservedly named Player of the Match for her match-defining spell that set the tone for the final day of the series.
