Noor Ahmad leads bowling demolition
The tone for the match was set early by the Afghan pace attack. Fazalhaq Farooqi and Azmatullah Omarzai struck in consecutive overs to remove openers Innocent Kaia and Brian Bennett. When Abdullah Tarakhail claimed the wicket of Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza, the visitors were reeling at 13/3 inside the fourth over. Although Ryan Burl attempted to anchor the innings with a contribution of 30, his dismissal via leg before wicket to Abdollah Ahmadzai triggered a collapse.
Noor Ahmad proved the chief architect of Zimbabwe's downfall, tearing through the middle and lower order to finish with a career-best 5/13 from his 3.3 overs. His clinical spell ensured the visitors had no path back into the contest. In response, Afghanistan’s batting lineup played with intent. Despite losing Mohammad Akram, Sediqullah Atal, and Noor ul Rahman, the target was never in doubt. Ibrahim Zadran anchored the chase with an unbeaten 25, supported by Omarzai, who finished 18 not out to seal the series whitewash.
Building momentum for the Test series
This final victory followed a series of strong performances from the Afghan side. The second match of the series saw a spectacular display from Omarzai, who struck 116 off 50 balls to overcome a valiant 106 from Sikandar Raza, while the series opener was defined by an all-round performance from Rashid Khan that secured a 37-run win. Having successfully navigated the T20I leg of the tour, both teams will now shift their focus to the longer format, with a two-match Test series set to commence on November 5.
