Parul Chaudhary has continued her impressive run at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, securing her second bronze medal in just three days. The Indian athlete delivered a determined performance in the women's 5000m final on Monday, crossing the finish line in 15:14.61 to earn a spot on the podium.

The race was a tightly contested affair, with Chaudhary fighting until the final moments to secure third place. She finished just 1.46 seconds behind Japan’s Nozomi Tanaka, who claimed the silver medal with a time of 15:11.65. The gold medal was awarded to Bahrain’s Winfred Yavi, who clocked 15:10.18 to take the top spot.

A Remarkable Campaign in Aichi-Nagoya

This latest achievement follows a busy schedule for the athlete, who competed in three finals over three consecutive days. Her bronze medal in the 5000m came only a day after she finished third in the women's 3000m steeplechase, where she clocked 9:08.67 to establish a new national record. Her campaign in Aichi-Nagoya began on September 26 with a fourth-place finish in the 1500m final, where she recorded a time of 4:09.46.

Chaudhary’s efforts have contributed significantly to India’s overall performance at the continental event. With her latest podium finish, India’s total medal tally has reached 42, consisting of four gold, 18 silver, and 20 bronze medals. Athletics has proven to be a vital contributor to this total, accounting for 16 of the country's medals so far, as India currently holds the 12th position in the overall standings.

Strong Showing from the Indian Athletics Contingent

The track and field events on Monday also saw other notable performances from the Indian squad. Vithya Ramraj secured a bronze medal in the women's 400m hurdles, clocking a personal best of 54.75 seconds. In doing so, she broke the national record she had previously shared with PT Usha. Additionally, Gulveer Singh added to the medal haul by claiming his second silver of the Games, finishing second in the men's 1500m with a personal best of 3:36.72. He finished behind Japan's Kazuto Iizawa, who set a new Games record in the event.
