Rather than feeling burdened by the prospect of competing in three distinct disciplines, she remains focused on replicating her previous success on the international stage.
Adapting to New Challenges and Conditions
Chaudhary’s preparation for the 2026 Games has been influenced by past experiences, particularly her performance at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. During that event, unexpected weather conditions hindered her steeplechase run, prompting a strategic shift in her training regimen. Recognizing that the climate in Japan could similarly fluctuate between heat and rain, she and her support team have incorporated specific training sessions in Bengaluru to ensure she is better equipped to handle adverse weather.
Reflecting on her journey, the runner highlighted the importance of her 2022 breakthrough. After a period of stagnation where her 3000m steeplechase times remained around the 10-minute mark, she clocked a significant 9:38 at the Indian Grand Prix in Thiruvananthapuram. This performance served as a turning point, providing her with the confidence and momentum to excel at the highest level of competition.
Commitment to the National Cause
The dedication required to reach this level of performance has involved significant personal sacrifice. Chaudhary noted that she and her training group remain at the Bengaluru facility for extended periods, often missing festivals and time at home to maintain their focus on major events like the Asian Games and the upcoming Los Angeles Olympics. She emphasized that the opportunity to represent India and contribute to the national medal tally remains her primary motivation.
As she looks toward Aichi-Nagoya, Chaudhary remains undeterred by the pressure of defending her titles while simultaneously taking on a new event. She expressed excitement about the prospect of testing her limits across the 1500m, 5000m, and 3000m steeplechase, aiming to bring home multiple medals for her country once again.
