During the Glasgow event, Nadeem was unable to defend his gold medal from the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, where he had set a Games record with a throw of 90.18 meters. He attributed his lackluster performance to the frigid weather conditions, which he claimed left his body stiff and hindered his ability to generate the necessary momentum for his throws. "I don't want to offer excuses for what happened, but those making hurtful and disrespectful comments about me should realize that I am a son of the soil and have brought medals for this country in the past," he stated.
Challenges Faced at the Commonwealth Games
Nadeem's struggles were not unique, as several athletes in the final also faced difficulties due to the cold, resulting in numerous foul throws. He emphasized that the weather significantly impacts a javelin thrower's performance, making it challenging to maintain muscle warmth and rhythm. "It becomes very difficult for a javelin thrower to keep his body muscles and rhythm consistent and fluid during the throws because of the cold," he explained.
Despite the setback, Nadeem remains grounded and focused on his future endeavors. He highlighted that his upbringing has instilled in him a sense of humility, stating, "My parents have brought me up to remain grounded and never forget my roots. I am not arrogant because of money or fame." He expressed gratitude for the support of his fellow countrymen and is determined to return to form, saying, "I believe that it is my job to put in all the hard work and commitment, but at the end of the day, it is up to Allah what he has planned for me."

Nadeem is set to compete next at the Athletissima (Lausanne Diamond League) on August 21, where he will face off against some of the world's top javelin throwers, including India's Neeraj Chopra and Sri Lanka's Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage, who won gold in Glasgow.
