Amruta Pujari secured a silver medal for India at the U23 World Wrestling Championships, marking the conclusion of the women's team's campaign at the tournament. Pujari reached the final of the 72kg division but was ultimately defeated by Ukraine's Iryna Zablotska, who claimed the gold medal after securing a fall victory while leading 0-6.

While Pujari stood on the podium, other Indian competitors faced difficult paths in their respective weight classes during the final stages of the event.

Mixed Results for Indian Wrestlers

Sweety narrowly missed out on adding a second bronze medal to the team's haul. After a hard-fought 11-10 victory against China's Xiaotong Zeng in the repechage round, she advanced to the 53kg bronze-medal bout. However, she was unable to overcome Ukraine's Anastasiia Polska, falling to an 11-0 defeat by technical superiority. Elsewhere, Vaishnavi Patil was unable to progress through her repechage opportunity, suffering a 2-4 loss to Japan's Haruka Kobaru.

The men's freestyle squad faced a challenging day, with none of the five wrestlers in action reaching the medal rounds. In the 61kg category, Vaibhav Patil was defeated 11-0 by Romania's Gabriel Whisenhunt. Adarsh Patil exited the 74kg competition in the round of 16 following a 4-6 loss to Japan's Toki Ogawa. Similarly, Amit was eliminated in the 86kg division after losing by fall to Georgia's Tornike Samkharadze while trailing 3-4, and Nikhil was defeated by technical superiority in the 92kg class by Georgia's Sandro Kurashvili. In the 125kg heavyweight division, Ronak Dahya was eliminated in the quarterfinals after a 1-11 loss to Azerbaijan's Khetag Karsanov.

India's overall performance at the tournament currently stands at three medals, including a silver medal won earlier by Greco-Roman wrestler Vishvajit More in the 55kg division.
