Indian tennis icon and former world No. 1 Rohan Bopanna has been confirmed as the marquee player for the Gurgaon Grand Slammers ahead of the eighth season of the Tennis Premier League (TPL). The announcement, made on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, sets the stage for the upcoming player auction scheduled for October 12 in Mumbai.

Bopanna, a veteran of the professional circuit, expressed his enthusiasm for the league's unique structure and competitive atmosphere. He noted that the tournament continues to improve annually, highlighting the blend of seasoned professionals and emerging Indian talent that defines the competition. The league is set to run from December 8-13, maintaining its signature fast-paced, 25-point-per-match format.

A Global Line-up of Marquee Talent

The TPL has secured a diverse group of international stars to lead the eight competing franchises. Among the marquee names is Australian Rinky Hijikata, the 2023 Australian Open men's doubles champion and a 2025 Wimbledon finalist, who will represent the Rajasthan Rangers. Hijikata, who holds a career-high doubles ranking of world No. 23, stated his excitement about making his debut in the league and experiencing the energy of the Hyderabad-based event.

Other notable international signings include Roman Burruchaga of Argentina, who will play for the Kolkata Thunder Blades as the highest-ranked singles player in the league at world No. 60. The Hyderabad Strikers have secured the services of Croatian talent Dino Prizmic, a former junior world No. 1 and 2023 Roland Garros boys’ singles champion, who reached a career-high ranking of world No. 70 this year.

The defending champions, GS Delhi Aces, have opted for the experience of Australian Adam Walton, who brings significant ATP Tour and Grand Slam exposure to the squad with a career-high ranking of world No. 74. Meanwhile, the Mumbai Royals will be headlined by Frenchman Terence Atmane, known by his moniker, The Magician. Rounding out the marquee list are Dalibor Svrcina of Czechia, returning for a second consecutive season with the Lucknow Blazers, and Frenchman Alexandre Muller, who will once again represent the Gujarat Panthers. Muller, 29, enters the season as one of the most experienced players in the field, boasting a career-high ranking of world No. 38.
